There is something different about a cake that was made specifically for you. Not selected from a catalogue, not assembled from a template, not decorated with a generic message in a frosting colour chosen from a limited dropdown menu. A cake that someone actually thought about, planned for your event, baked fresh, and finished by hand.
At our Terrigal bakery, custom celebration cakes are one of the most meaningful parts of what we do. We have baked for birthdays spanning every decade of life, for weddings on the Central Coast, for corporate events and baby showers and milestone anniversaries. Every single one has been made from scratch, in our kitchen, by people who care about the outcome.
This post covers everything you need to know about ordering a custom cake from us — and why it is worth doing properly.
What Sets a Custom Artisan Cake Apart
The difference between an artisan custom cake and a supermarket celebration cake is not simply visual, though the visual difference is usually significant. The real difference is in the ingredients, the process, and the intention behind the product.
We use real butter, not vegetable shortening. We use fresh eggs and real vanilla. Our sponges are baked to order, not stored for days before assembly. Our buttercreams and ganaches are made from scratch using quality couverture chocolate and fresh cream. The result is a cake that tastes as good as it looks — something that is not always guaranteed with mass-produced alternatives.
Beyond ingredients, artisan cakes reflect the skill of the baker. Proper sponge construction, even layers, well-tempered chocolate decorations, hand-piped details — these take years to develop and they show in the finished product.
What Can Be Made
Our custom cake range covers a wide variety of styles and occasions. Classic tiered celebration cakes for birthdays and weddings. Smaller intimate cakes for gatherings of 10 to 20 people. Sheet cakes for larger events where quantity matters alongside quality. Cupcake sets and individual desserts for grazing tables and events where individual servings make more sense.
Flavour-wise, we offer a core range of combinations — vanilla bean sponge with raspberry and white chocolate, dark chocolate with salted caramel, lemon and elderflower, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting — as well as seasonal and custom flavour consultations for clients who want something specific.
We also accommodate dietary requirements. Gluten-free sponges, dairy-free frostings, and reduced-sugar options are all possible with advance discussion. We cannot guarantee a nut-free environment in our kitchen due to the nature of our product range, so please discuss any allergy concerns with us directly when you order.

The Custom Order Process
Ordering a custom cake from us is a straightforward process, but it does require some lead time. Here is how it generally works.
First, get in touch with us as early as possible — ideally at least two weeks before your event, and longer for complex orders or peak periods like Christmas, Easter, and school holidays. We are a small team with limited custom order capacity each week.
We will have a conversation about your event, the number of guests, your flavour preferences, any design ideas you have in mind, and your budget. We can work from photos or descriptions, or you can give us creative latitude to design something appropriate for the occasion.
Once we have agreed on the details, we will confirm the order with a deposit and lock in your collection date. Cakes are typically collected fresh on the day of, or the day before, your event.

Weddings and Large Events on the Central Coast
Terrigal and the broader Central Coast has become a genuinely popular destination for weddings and celebrations. The natural setting — the beach, the headland, the lagoon — makes it a compelling location for events, and we have been fortunate to contribute to many of them over the years.
For wedding cakes and large event orders, we strongly recommend reaching out six to eight weeks in advance. Wedding cakes require additional planning around structure, transport, setup, and design, and we want to make sure we can give your order the attention it deserves.
We have supplied celebration cakes for events held at venues across Terrigal, Avoca Beach, Wamberal, and the broader Central Coast region. If you are planning an event in the area and want to discuss a custom cake or a broader dessert spread, we would love to hear from you.
Corporate and Group Orders
We also work with local businesses and organisations on corporate orders — whether that is a team morning tea, a product launch, a client appreciation event, or end-of-year celebrations.
For corporate orders, we can package pastries, individual cakes, and other baked goods in quantities suited to your event.
If you are a Central Coast business looking for a local bakery partner for regular or event-based catering, we are happy to discuss standing arrangements.
A Note on Seasonal and Limited Items
Throughout the year we produce seasonal limited-run items that are not part of our standard daily lineup. Hot cross buns at Easter. Stollen and Christmas shortbreads in December. Simnel cake in spring. These items are produced in limited quantities and tend to sell quickly.
The best way to stay across what is available is to follow us or check in with us regularly. We announce seasonal items in advance so you have time to plan your order.
